Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Caregiver/Companion to provide exceptional support and companionship to individuals in need of assistance with daily activities and personal care. This vital role involves fostering a safe, comfortable, and engaging environment, ensuring residents or clients receive respectful, personalized care that promotes their independence and well-being. The ideal candidate will bring energy, empathy, and a proactive attitude to enhance the quality of life for those they serve.

Duties

Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary. Monitor patients' vital signs and observe their physical and emotional condition regularly to detect any changes requiring attention. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when required. Administer medications accurately following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. Maintain detailed documentation of care provided, patient observations, medication administration, and any incidents or changes in condition. Support residents or clients in engaging social activities, fostering mental stimulation, and encouraging independence. Perform light housekeeping duties such as cleaning living areas, laundry, and maintaining a hygienic environment to promote health and safety. Follow all safety protocols including CPR, First Aid procedures, and infection control standards to ensure a secure environment for everyone. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and team members to develop and implement personalized care plans aligned with each individual's needs. Provide specialized care for residents with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, autism spectrum disorders, or other developmental disabilities with patience and understanding.

Experience

Candidates should possess prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home & community care settings. Experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities--including developmental disabilities or memory impairments--is highly valued. Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, care planning, and HIPAA compliance is essential. Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are required; additional training in dementia or Alzheimer's care is a plus.
