We are seeking a Health and Safety Student for our Atlantic Canada District in Halifax, NS, within our Canadian Buildings Division, that is available for 4 months from May 2024 to August 2024.

Here\'s how a Health and Safety Student for our Atlantic Canada office contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

• Assisting the HSE Professional with inspections and incidental investigations
• Managing documents (i.e., data entry, SMC entries, taking minutes, filing etc.)
• Assisting with the orientation of new employees
• Developing of training materials
• Reviewing paperwork (i.e., PSI, tailgate meetings, safework procedure, trend analysis)
• Monitoring and maintaining the environmental program
• Recognizing and following PCL and local legislative requirements.
• Analyzing site-specific trends and incidents and reporting findings to district
• Gathering/reviewing/distributing safety-related statistical information
• Interpreting, communicating, and reinforcing project safety standards to workforce

Qualifications

• Working towards a degree or diploma in a related field.
• Ability to implement HSE program elements and safe operating procedures.
• Knowledge of environmental requirements and the ability to implement systems which meet compliance.
• Ability to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce the risks of exposure to hazards.
• The ability to determine the cause of an incident, and to initiate and implement corrective action to prevent the likelihood of reoccurrence.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Strong willingness to learn.
