We are looking for a

Health and Safety Manager

for all Saand locations who will help us unsure our team remains safe, educated and well informed and to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act.

This position is responsible for driving current and future manufacturing performance in the areas of Safety Compliance and building a Safety Culture.

Position Summary :



Reporting to the CEO the

Health and Safety Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of Saand's health and safety program by developing, implementing and monitoring health and safety plans, enforcing policies, standards, and evaluating practices to achieve compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, and company policy. The focus of this position is on promoting occupational health and safety minimizing risks for employees while working towards continuous improvement in safety performance. The successful candidate works closely with the leadership team to identify and mitigate risks which may lead to occupational injury or illness.

Functional Responsibilities:



Enhance the organizational health and safety framework leveraging key principles per ISO 45001 and manufacturing best practices Conduct regular site visits to verify health and safety performance and ensure alignment with legal and corporate standards. Implement new policies, programs including initiatives such as hazard identification and control, LOTO, Working at Heights, WHMIS, Drive and Vehicle Safety, Contractor Safety, etc. Provide support during the implementation process leading to behavior-based safety culture for the organization. Develop change management plans as needed and maintain a regular communication program which includes safety alerts, toolbox talks, etc. Collaborate with operational teams to integrate health and safety considerations into daily activities and project planning Conduct workplace audits which include inspection/observation of machinery, equipment and employee behavior; identify unsafe conditions, recommend and implement change where feasible or risk mitigation approach Lead and actively participate in risk elimination and/or hazard prevention at the process and job task levels. Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures Create control plans that measure performance against process standards and drive site specific accountability Adapt work instructions for machine and equipment safety Review near miss, accident, injury reports, Ministry of Labour (MOL) orders to ensure all incidents are properly reported, investigated and appropriate action has been taken to prevent recurrence or comply with MOL orders Conduct and manage device and safety related training and presentations. Assess and verify training needs for each plant, provide support to the sites on the planning of any necessary internal and/or external training as required. Work with Plant Managers and HR to ensure a training matrix is being maintained for the personnel at each site and that training needs align with regulatory, legal, and company requirements Conduct safety trend analysis from incidents, near misses, safe behavior observations and compliance audits, etc. Ensure all applicable documentation including WSIB reporting is organized and correctly filed Stay up to date with industry regulations, trends and new technologies to continuously improve health and safety practices.

This position requires overnight travel to all Saand locations within Ontario.

Post secondary degree or diploma CRSP or CSP active designation 5+ years' experience in the process of Continuous Safety Improvement or Health and Safety in industrial organizations ISO 45001 Behavior based safety Risk Assessment Industrial hygiene Industrial safety Ergonomics WSIB Lean manufacturing principals

Skills and Competencies:



Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines. Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability, auditing skills Interaction and collaboration with client group, workers, managers and leadership team. Deep understanding of Health and Safety practices and legal requirements Ability to work in a team-based environment. Strong problem-solving ability, action-oriented Detailed orientation with the ability to prepare for and manage contingency planning Strong communication and interpersonal skills Significant change management experience Effective presentation skills, able to deliver complex information to diverse employees Proficiency with MS Office tools
