As we continue to grow we are looking to add a Fully remote Health and Safety Coordinator to the Scandi Family! When not on the road visiting client sites 2 days a week you can work comfortably from home. Travel to sites within an hour from the GTA 2 days a week (expect to travel to 6-8 sites a week). Overnight travel once a quarter to either Northern Ontario or Manitoba. This is full time permanent remote position with working hours Monday to Friday 8am - 4:30pm. ** All candidates must be located in the Greater Toronto Area and be able to legally work in Canada to be considered** What\'s in it for you:

What your day to day will look like: Reporting into the Director of Health and Safety. Your role will include; 20% Administrative, 40% Health and Safety Support, and 40% Operational On Site Work.
  • Administrative; Assemble and update Health and Safety documentation for the region including; training, compliance, safety performance and inspection reports and hazard assessments. Distribute health and safety communications and participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings.
  • Hazard Assessments, Inspections, and Audits; Conduct Inspections at regional offices and warehouses including fire extinguisher inspections, and weekly site visits for primarily janitorial rooms ensuring standards and compliance. Support the Health and Safety team with implementing new initiatives and meeting audit requirements Cleaning Industry Management Standards (CIMS)
  • Incident Investigations; Assist the Director of Health and Safety to investigate incidents and near miss events. Support the development of corrective and preventative actions to prevent reoccurrence and present findings to our Operations teams.
  • Training; Coordinate training for WHMIS, health and safety orientations and other internal safety courses as required. Assist in the development and revision of safety training programs.
What you\'ll need to succeed:
  • Must own a reliable vehicle travel within region is expected for site visits.
  • Intermediate experience in MS Office and familiarity with Safety Management Systems is preferred.
  • Post Secondary education related to Health and Safety would be preferred but not required. Previous exposure to Health and Safety is preferred but this is an entry level role so we\'re happy to train the right candidate.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to get along with different personalities and build strong long lasting relationships with clients.
  • Top notch communication skills; this role will be communicating Health and Safety processes, procedures, policies and training to a variety of departments in the organization and to various client groups.
