Health and Safety Coordinator
to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring our operations meet the highest standards of health, safety, environmental compliance, and employee well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in compliance with the
Canada Labor Code
,
Workplace Health and Safety Regulations
, and company standards.
Conduct regular workplace inspections, internal audits, and hazard/risk assessments; document findings and implement corrective actions.
Deliver, track, and maintain mandatory training programs (e.g., WHMIS 2015, emergency response, lockout/tagout, confined space entry, PPE use).
Develop, test, and communicate emergency response and fire safety plans as required by Workplace Safety and Health regulations.
Lead and support incident and accident investigations, prepare required reports, and submit documentation to Labor Canada, and other authorities when necessary.
Maintain accurate records and reporting systems for injuries, near misses, claims, and compliance documentation in accordance with
Workers Compensation Board (WCB) requirements.
Provide health and safety orientations to new employees, contractors, and visitors entering the facility.
Stay current to federal legislation and industry best practices and adjust company programs as required.
Prepare reports on safety performance, compliance status, and incident trends for management review.
Collaborate with managers, supervisors, and employees to strengthen a proactive safety culture and promote an
injury-free workplace
.
Organize noise level testing in each area and ensure acceptable PPEs are in place to meet the regulatory compliances.
Following environmental regulations for handling, storage, and disposal of waste, chemicals, adhesives, inks, oils, and other regulated materials in compliance with federal and provincial environmental regulations.
Monitor and document environmental performance indicators such as air quality and dust emissions to maintain healthy and safe environment for employees.
Assist with audits, inspections, and reporting requirements from regulatory agencies or fire insurance providers.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of
Canadian health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards
.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for hazard identification and mitigation.
Effective organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Certification in Occupational Health & Safety will be an asset.
Previous experience in manufacturing
or food processing will be an asset.
