What You Bring
Post Secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Studies, or related field
1-3 years of safety experience (construction or industrial environments preferred)
Working knowledge of Ontario OHSA. Knowledge of COR is considered and asset.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project) and construction software (e.g., Jonas, SiteDocs, or equivalent)
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset
Must be comfortable in constructions site environment
Valid G driver's license and clean driving record
What You'll be Doing
As a Health and Safety Coordinator, you'll play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture on active job sites. You'll assist with safety inspections, documentation, and compliance audits while working directly with site supervisors to identify hazards and implement corrective actions. Your day will involve reviewing safety practices, supporting toolbox talks, and helping ensure that all workers are following company policies and legislative requirements. You'll also participate in incident investigations, maintain accurate records, and assist with continuous improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for someone eager to learn, comfortable in the field, and has a keen interest in the construction industry.
The Tasks
Ensure safety documentation (Safety Talks, daily safety talks, inspections, permits, etc.) is up-to-date and properly filed
Participate in HSE meetings and help communicate key safety messages to crews
Conduct and document regular site safety inspections and audits
Support site teams in developing and maintaining safe work procedures
Assist with incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and follow-up actions
Track and analyze safety metrics to support continuous improvement
Verify that personal protective equipment (PPE) is available, properly used, and maintained on all sites
Support internal and external COR, WSIB, or regulatory audits as needed
Assist with orientation and onboarding of new employees, ensuring they understand company safety expectations
Maintain awareness of current OHSA requirements and industry best practices
