Position Summary
The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and updating the company's health and safety management systems while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements across Canada, USA, and Mexico facilities. This role involves processing and tracking incident reports, conducting investigations, and coordinating audits. The coordinator actively manages employee illness and injury cases, facilitates return-to-work programs, and oversees the WSIB claims (or applicable body) process, including appeals and modified work arrangements. They serve as a key resource for employees and management, responding to inquiries, providing training, and supporting the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Additionally, the role includes monitoring workplace safety, conducting inspections, and staying up to date with current health and safety regulations and best practices. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer or their designate.

Responsibilities
Maintain and update existing health & safety management systems across Canada, USA, and Mexico
Process and track incident reports, conduct investigations, and assist with audits across all facilities
Respond to employee inquiries regarding company health and safety policies and practices
Correspond with Ministry of Labour (or applicable body)
Active case management of employee illness and injury, and effective return to work coordination
Coordinate compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
Facilitate the WSIB (or applicable body) process including claims, return to work process, appeal generation and modified work process.
Consult, support and participate in activities of the Joint Health and Safety Committee
Review and maintain all accident and incident investigation reports and make suggestions to prevent recurrence and aids in the development of corrective actions
Monitor safety related injury and illnesses
Update, review, monitor, follow and maintain company guidelines, policies, procedures and safe operating procedures as they relate to health and safety issues
Act as health and safety resource to management and employees
Coordinate health and safety related training; organize and conduct training as required
Coordinate with and cooperate with management and employees in all facilities as required.
Coordinate and follow up on monthly safety inspections
Keep up to date with current Health and Safety practices and relevant Health and Safety training
Ensure compliance with WHMIS regulations
Requirements
5+ years of experience as a Health and Safety Coordinator in a manufacturing environment (Required*) 2+ years of experience as a Health & Safety Coordinator across multiple manufacturing facilities across North America (Preferred*) A degree or diploma in a related field
Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes and legislative requirements relating to OHSA, CSA, and WSIB.
Working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations, Human Rights Code and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act
Ability to take initiative, multitask and maintain attention to detail.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Highly motivated, organized, and reliable.
Travel to other facilities as required (Canada, USA, Mexico)
Work Conditions
Continuous walks and audits of production floor
Repetitive tasks such as looking at a computer monitor(s), typing, etc.
Safety equipment will be required, e.g., CSA approved steel-toed safety boots, etc. when on the shop floor
