Position Title: HSE Associate
Position Type: Contract (yearly)
Function: HSE
Location: Prince Edward Island

Position Description: The HSE Associate will assist in the implementation and oversight of the HSE management system to ensure compliance with legislated requirements and conformance to corporate standards.

Functions, Duties, Tasks:

Provide support to the department in all aspects of health, safety, and the environment.
Develop and coordinate safety training programs and maintain sign-off sheets and other documentation.
Must be able to conduct risk assessments, and assist operations/staff with eliminating or mitigating potential risks.
Assist in conducting regular inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments of work locations.
Understand the use of personal protective equipment, safe work practices, and environmental practices.
Assist in continuous improvement activities for the site.
Maintain the emergency management system for the site.
Assist in incident investigations, as required. Assist JOHSC committee members and participate in meetings, as required.
Monitor employees\xe2\x80\x99 and employers\xe2\x80\x99 adherence to safety policies and guidelines at all times.
Provide recommendations for improving health and safety in the workplace.

Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, and/or training, required certifications):

Bachelor/Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent training and experience, plus 5-8 years of related HSE experience, preferably in a cGMP manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of provincial HSE legislation is required
Strong problem-solving skills and analytical skills (Root Cause Analysis).
Must be able to be self-managed and self-motivated.
Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
Strong knowledge of business processes.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Additional Preferences:
Strong desire to contribute to a situation to make it better.
Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation is considered an asset.
Knowledge of six sigma and lean manufacturing is considered an asset.
