What you will get to do:
In your position you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Company’s Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) programs, policies, systems and reports for Mississauga, Madill, Hatcheries and Catching Services.


  • Responsible for the reduction of Health & Safety risks and hazards
  • Coordinate and execute Pre-Start Engineering Reviews for new equipment purchases.
  • Supports Contractor management initiatives including completion of risk predictions and mitigation plans.
  • Provide a highly visible presence in all departments and leadership to site teams.
  • Investigates injuries, incidents, near misses and supports efforts to identify root cause.
  • Provides safety training to employees.
  • Supports implementation of safety excellence program initiatives.
  • Develops work procedures, and one-point lessons to communicate expectations with employees.
  • Support Ergonomic initiatives.
  • Supports WSIB claims management initiatives in consultation with the Senior Manager of Claims & Return to Work.
  • Provides Health & Safety guidance to Managers Supervisors.
  • Promote and comply with all Maple Lodge Farms Health & Safety, Quality Assurance, and Environmental Management policies, standards, procedures, and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.

Education and Certification:
  • Minimum 5 years’ Health and Safety experience in a similar unionized environment or combination of relevant experience
  • University Degree or College Diploma in Health & Safety other relevant combination of experience; • Safety designation or ability to demonstrate efforts towards achieving a designation: CRSP, CHSC, CSP or equivalent.
  • Excellent working knowledge of OH&SA and WSIB; and application of legislative and industry safety standards
  • Ability to plan and execute daily assigned tasks with minimal supervision
  • Strong collaboration skills & team player
  • General to advanced Computer Skills (e.g., MS Office)
  • Ability to learn custom software applications (e.g., ISN, SiteHawk)

*Office based 50%, plant based 50 %. Working in animal harvesting and processing facilities*
*Must be willing to drive between locations in Ontario* *Class “G” driver’s license in good standing*
