Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified
Quality Assurance Person (QAP)
to lead our compliance, quality, and product release operations within Canada's regulated cannabis industry. This is a
remote-first position
with
1 day per week required on-site
at our licensed facility in [City].
As the QAP, you will be the final authority for
batch release
,
SOP development
, and
regulatory compliance
under the
Cannabis Act and Regulations
. You will also oversee
audit readiness
for both
Health Canada and the CRA
, and manage all aspects of
product quality and complaints
.
This role requires a detail-oriented and compliance-focused professional who can operate independently while working collaboratively across remote and on-site teams.
Key Responsibilities -
Product Release & Compliance
Serve as the designated
Quality Assurance Person (QAP)
in accordance with Health Canada's Cannabis Regulations.
Review and approve all production and packaging batch records for
final product release
.
Sign off on
all batch clearances
, ensuring compliance with GPP and internal specifications.
Ensure products meet regulatory requirements for release, including lab testing review and label accuracy.
SOP & Quality System Management
Draft, review, and maintain
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
across all departments.
Ensure all SOPs reflect current regulatory and operational requirements.
Lead
Change Control
processes and ensure documentation is up-to-date and compliant.
Audit Readiness & Regulatory Relations
Prepare and lead
Health Canada
and
Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
audits.
Maintain all necessary records and systems to ensure 24/7 audit readiness.
Respond to audit findings and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs).
Complaints, Deviations & CAPA
Manage the full lifecycle of
product complaints
, including investigation, documentation, and resolution.
Oversee
deviation reporting
, root cause analysis, and CAPA implementation.
Monitor and trend quality issues to identify and reduce risk.
Collaboration & Leadership
Work cross-functionally with Production, Operations, and Executive leadership to maintain quality and compliance standards.
Provide QA oversight and guidance to production associates and supervisors.
Conduct training on SOPs, compliance, and GPP expectations as required.
Qualifications
Must meet
Health Canada's requirements for QAP designation
, including suitable education and industry experience.
Degree or diploma in
life sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, biology, chemistry
, or a related field.
Minimum
2-3 years experience
in a regulated cannabis, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing environment.
Proven experience preparing for and leading
Health Canada
and/or
CRA audits
.
Deep knowledge of
GPP, GMP, and SOP creation
in a licensed facility.
Strong understanding of inventory control and regulatory recordkeeping.
Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
Work Environment
This is a
remote position
