AIG underwriting teams help to find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients, and High Net Worth individuals. Reporting to the Head of Financial Lines of AIG Canada, the Head of Western Canada Financial Lines will lead our Financial Lines team in Western Canada. They will be responsible for identifying, developing and implementing strategies to profitably grow our portfolio, ensuring we continue to be a market leader. They will also be responsible for developing and maintaining key broker, client and partner relationships.

How you will create an impact



People Management: lead a Vancouver-based underwriting team to drive profitable growth in Western Canada. Promote a team culture of collaboration, inclusivity and learning. Mentor and train staff through effective leadership, role modelling and training programs. Market Presence: build, solidify and lead broker and client engagements, and produce new business by working with our broker network to source new opportunities. Collaborate with the Financial Lines business leaders and their underwriting teams, Distribution and other colleagues, to achieve positive outcomes on both renewals and new business, and create, support and execute strategies for profitable growth. Ensuring all underwriting guidelines, processes and service level agreements are adhered to, and files are maintained, accurate and complete. Produce accurate and timely information for senior management; assisting in the budgeting/forecasting process on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Responsibility will include multiple lines of business such as: Directors and Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability, Crime/Fidelity, Cyber, Errors & Omissions and Kidnap Ransom & Extortion.

What you'll need to succeed



Proven Financial Lines underwriting or broking experience. People management experience with strong ability to lead and manage a team of underwriters. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Flexibility and ability to adapt to rapidly changing work environments. Proven ability to deliver difficult messages whilst influencing positive outcomes. Organized, highly motivated, self-starter who takes responsibility for own performance and demonstrates leadership in their approach to work, training and knowledge seeking. Proven ability to work within a team framework, to provide a positive influence on others and to support others as required. General understanding and awareness of people's behaviors, their complexities and how to deal with them. CFA/CIP/FCIP/CRM designation is considered an asset.
