The Head of Securitization Reporting will have overall accountability for the reporting and control functions related to the bank\xe2\x80\x99s proprietary and government sponsored securitization programs. Manulife Bank\xe2\x80\x99s securitization programs are an important funding source for the Bank, and account for more than $8 billion of the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s current funding and liquidity.

The Head of Securitization Reporting leads a successful team of 5 individuals and works in a matrix environment with dual reporting to the Bank Treasurer and the CFO. This structure enables the Head of Securitization Reporting to play an influential role in helping to define the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s overall funding and liquidity strategy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of all investor reporting and accounting for the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s securitization programs, ensuring ongoing compliance with note-holder agreements and published program guidelines. The position also includes creating and maintaining productive working relationships with mortgage default insurers, swap counterparties, vendors, and the securitization teams at other banks.

Responsibilities

Represent Manulife Bank on the Mortgage-Backed Securities Issuers Association (MBSIA), an association of all Canadian banks, trust companies, and credit unions, with a purpose of advising CMHC on issues and future enhancements related to government sponsored securitization programs.

Overall accountability for the accuracy and efficiency of accounting, investor reporting, and financial statement preparation for Platinum Canadian Mortgage Trust II (PCMT II), ensuring that all reporting is compliant with program agreements and meets the needs of investors.

Jointly with the bank\xe2\x80\x99s Treasury team, work on the development of new securitization programs.

Oversight of the security issuance process, including review and execution of all documents related to the National Housing Act Mortgage-Backed Securities (NHA MBS) and Canada Mortgage Bond (CMB) programs.

Responsible for design and implementation of the risk framework and control systems for the bank\xe2\x80\x99s securitization programs, ensuring that all programs are aligned with regulatory guidance, contractual requirements, and other program requirements.

Work with mortgage default insurance partners, CMHC, Sagen, and Canada Guaranty clarify policies, address systemic issues, and direct the volume of insurance allocated to each partner.

Day-to-day management of relationships with 3rd party mortgage originators, and service providers engaged in various aspects of our securitization programs, including CIBC Mellon, Computershare, BNY Mellon, TAO Solutions and CDS.

Manage accounting for Manulife Bank\xe2\x80\x99s Multi-Unit Residential (MUR) mortgage securitization program, and ensure controls are in place that result in appropriate calculation of gains and retained interest.

Provide subject matter expertise on Mortgage Default Insurance within Manulife Bank, providing guidance on insurer regulations and requirements to other departments.

Advise financial reporting and regulatory reporting teams on new securitization initiatives that impact the financial statements and appropriate accounting treatment for securitization programs.

Review and approval of securitization section of the bank\xe2\x80\x99s Pillar III reporting.

Responsible for the testing and implementation of updates to the NHA MBS securitization system (Mortgage Hub) software.

Responsible to ensure that the bank receives a clean audit opinion for Platinum Canadian Mortgage Trust II, as well as satisfactory opinions on internal audits, CMHC audits, and CMHC annual requirements for the NHA MBS and CMB programs.

What we are looking for

CPA or CFA Designation

Strong working knowledge of securitization programs and/or the banking industry is an asset

Ability to interpret, analyze and implement legal agreements and program requirements

Strong communication and relationship management skills

Ability to solve problems independently

Works well in a matrix environment

Strong people leadership skills

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage tight deadlines

Knowledge of Oracle SQL is an asset

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location CAN, Ontario, Toronto, 200 Bloor Street East

Salary range is expected to be between $100,500.00 CAD - $180,900.00 CAD
