The Head of Product reports into the Chief External Relations Officer and is a strategic thinker that is responsible for the development of a roadmap, impact objectives, and the overall technology and business strategy. About the workplace

This role will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. Periodically, you\xe2\x80\x99ll be required to attend in-person activities or events.

About the role

  • Develops a vision and sets the strategic direction of Vancity\xe2\x80\x99s product development function to align with member needs, business growth, impact objectives, and overall technology strategy.
  • Oversees user acquisition, product development, and vendor partnerships for new business designs.
  • Plans, develops, and establishes policies, procedures, and objectives in accordance with organization\xe2\x80\x99s objectives.
  • Heads the entire Product team by building, mentoring and managing a high-performing product team, including product owners, and nurtures an entrepreneurial and member-driven performance culture throughout the entire function.
  • Accountable for financial and digital product platforms working collaboratively with Information Technology Services (ITS) and key business stakeholders including Marketing, Finance, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Member Experience and Community Engagement (MECE), Legal, etc.
  • Invests in quality assurance by setting up quality assurance teams, labs, and processes, and building management programs.
  • Takes advantage of emerging market opportunities by defining product requirements, operational requirements, business and governance structure, and prioritize roadmaps, taking into account factors like feasibility, time, cost, and impact.
  • Maintains multiple roadmaps for both financial and digital products in-line with Vancity\xe2\x80\x99s vision & strategy.
  • Evaluates the product roadmap ensuring robust and rigorous prioritization and assures it is aligned with business and customer needs.
  • Work cross-functionally with Finance, Marketing, ERM, Impact Strategy, ITS, MECE and other departments and areas.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders on the business development and customer teams to maximize the ROI of every potential product.
  • Delivers new products through internal research and development and supplier partnerships.
  • Drives scalable processes and innovation around the product development cycle.
  • Manages product lifecycles from initial concept stage to end of product life phase.
  • Develops the product development process utilizing agile scrum techniques that enable consistent performance improvements.
  • Develops metrics and KPIs to measure the success products and identify areas for improvement.
  • Monitors and analyzes performance metrics to determine product performance and identify risks.
  • Develops budgets and forecasts and conducts risks analysis.
  • Identifies, vets, and manages vendors as needed to accomplish project work.
  • Develops database including account and prospect information to implement direct marketing campaigns.
You Have:
  • 8+ years of experience in product management and/or product development, along with 5+ years of leadership and management skills with a proven track record delivering successful products and driving revenue growth as well as developing, mentoring and motivating a high-performing product team.
  • A university degree, preferably in Marketing, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Product Management.
  • Knowledge of product strategy development, product initiative development, high-level product road-mapping, project management, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to define and track product metrics and KPIs that drive business growth.
  • Visionary: Ability to think strategically and create a compelling product vision aligned with the company\'s long-term goals and market trends.
  • Strong leadership skills, with excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills: Effective at articulating the product vision and strategy to stakeholders at all levels, including executives, cross-functional teams, and external partners.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and partners.
  • Strong understanding of product development processes and methodologies, and the ability to continuously improve them.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of go-to-market strategy and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver on it.
Salary Range: $177,200.00 - $266,000.00.
