The Head of Engineering, Services will work closely with the Chief Product & Technology Officer (CPTO) and the VP, Product, Services. This role is responsible for the product and infrastructure layers that enable our Retail & Hospitality groups to offer financial services as well as to serve merchants that require a combination of Retail & Hospitality functionality for their businesses to thrive. As a Head of Engineering, you have the highest level of responsibility with the Product & Technology (P&T) organization and thus are responsible for not only improving the engineering culture, but also outlining a vision & strategy that enables and inspires the team to do their best work through autonomy, accountability, and enablement in an inclusive environment. The expectation is that you will be a change agent, pushing your team and peers to make Lightspeed the highest performing organization possible. This will result in making a real and material impact for our customers, which represent merchants across the globe and the customers they serve.

This role will focus on finding and fixing the largest issues across Technology, including the approaches for prioritizing work across all teams, planning and tracking key deliverables, strategic planning internally and with partners, putting a system in place for measuring and optimizing success across all aspects of the business, optimizing communication for transparency and ownership, identifying and removing key roadblocks to team progress, and root-causing acute issues and turning them into tracked, actionable solutions.

Your key responsibilities:

  • All shared layers below and above our Retail & Hospitality offerings, which focus on the unique needs of Retailers & Restaurateurs, which includes:
  • Financial services, including payments processing, capital lending, trade financing, and future financial instruments
  • The Golf Product
  • New product lines
  • Common modules to ensure we can build one and deploy many times, while best serving our customers across both Retail & Hospitality
  • Building an organization that can outline a vision & path to a high uptime (3 nines), high performance distributed services architecture across our entire technical stack
  • Identifying and solving repeated areas of inefficiencies and disruption in our technical stack, in process, and in our development cycle
  • Building out a world class data engineering organization, including best practices for data storage, organization and processing for real time analysis across the company
Experience:

Bachelor\'s (Master\'s degree preferred) * 10+ years of experience running 100+ person engineering organizations
  • Has managed for 2+ years in a world-class tech company of size 2000+ people
  • Experience managing multiple global cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing management and stakeholders
  • Past achievements where solid technical & architectural decisions have lead to proven successes
Capabilities
  • Ability to lead small and large cross-functional, cross-cultural and virtual project teams
  • Outstanding professional with strong relationship management and influencing skills
  • Proven ability to change culture and ship disruptive and high quality products through experimentation and iteration
  • Excellent business and commercial acuity
  • Demonstrated qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
  • Experience utilizing models for strategy development, planning, decision-making, and/or budgeting
  • Experience with high sales velocity and SaaS business models
  • Strong track record of project management, execution and delivery
  • High attention to detail while being able to stay high level and strategic
  • Strong strategic thinker able to consider \xe2\x80\x9cactual\xe2\x80\x9d and \xe2\x80\x9cfuture\xe2\x80\x9d state needs of the organization and impact of both internal and external factors
  • Experience working in Financial Services a plus
