About Acton Academy Victoria:

Acton Academy Victoria is a learner-driven private school opening its doors to families who believe education should be a transformational journey. Inspired by the original Acton Academy in Austin, Texas, we combine elements of Montessori, Socratic discussion, hands-on projects, and real-world learning within the framework of the Hero's Journey.

Our mixed-age studios empower learners to take ownership of their learning, set goals, and pursue mastery through curiosity, challenge, and collaboration. Rather than grades and tests, we celebrate growth through public exhibitions of learning, where each child's courage and creativity shine.

About the Role:

We are seeking a

Head Guide

to lead our

Spark and Elementary Studio (Kindergarten-Grade 4)

-- a warm, vibrant community where curiosity, kindness, and independence take root.

The ideal candidate is an inspiring, growth-minded educator who sees children as capable and brilliant. You'll create a joyful environment that balances freedom and responsibility, encouraging learners to explore, problem-solve, and support one another as they grow.

As our founding guide, you will play a key role in shaping the culture and rhythms of our studios and will grow alongside our school community. Over time, there will be opportunities for leadership and deeper collaboration in developing Acton Academy Victoria's expanding program.

What You'll Do

Guide daily Socratic discussions that nurture critical thinking and curiosity. Implement hands-on "Quests" and projects that connect learning to real-world challenges. Foster a safe, engaging environment that celebrates effort, growth, and community. Equip learners to take ownership of their goals, progress, and behavior. Partner with families to support each child's journey as a hero in their own story. Collaborate with founders to continuously improve studio systems and culture.

Ideal Candidate

Experience working with mixed-age groups of children (Montessori, Reggio, or experiential settings a plus). Deep respect for children's abilities and a belief in self-directed learning. Passionate about curiosity, creativity, and the Hero's Journey framework. Kind-hearted yet firm, patient, and adaptable. Strong communicator, reflective thinker, and lifelong learner. Excited to join a startup environment where innovation and teamwork are key.

Compensation

Competitive salary based on experience, with opportunities for professional growth and leadership as our school expands. $32-$38 per hour with benefits and a competitive bonus structure in place.
