We are seeking a talented, passionate, and versatile Chef to lead our culinary program at a unique dual-concept establishment--a craft brewery with a welcoming taproom and wood-fired pizza menu, as well as an upscale event space hosting weddings, private functions, and weekly elevated dining experiences. This role requires someone with the creativity to develop innovative specials, the precision to execute high-end plated meals, and the leadership to maintain smooth kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Service
Execute and oversee all kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and daily execution of upscale pub food and wood-fired pizzas.
Develop and implement weekly and monthly specials, ensuring creativity, seasonality, and alignment with the establishment''s craft beer offerings.
Design and execute high-end menus for weddings, private functions, and weekly ticketed dinners.
Ensure consistent quality, taste, and presentation standards across all service types.
Maintain food cost targets, portion control, and inventory management.
Manage kitchen staff schedules, training, and performance.
Establish and maintain vendor relationships, sourcing high-quality local and specialty ingredients.
Collaborate with event managers and ownership to deliver a cohesive guest experience.
Special Events & Upscale Dining
Work closely with the Events Manager to plan, design, and execute high-end menus for weddings, private events, and ticketed dinners.
Collaborate with event manager and clients to tailor menus to their vision and needs.
Deliver creative, memorable, and visually stunning plates for special occasions.
Ensure flawless execution for banquet-style service and plated fine-dining experience
Operational & Administrative
Monitor food costs, portioning, and inventory to maximize profitability.
Source and build relationships with local farmers, purveyors, and specialty suppliers.
Maintain compliance with health and safety standards, ensuring a clean and organized kitchen.
Collaborate with management on menu development, event planning, and culinary promotions.
Leadership & Team Development
Provide patient, compassionate, and consistent leadership to all kitchen staff.
Train, mentor, and guide team members, fostering a supportive environment for growth and learning.
Encourage staff to expand their culinary skills and pursue long-term career development.
Model professionalism, creativity, and resilience in a fast-paced dual-service environment.
Health & Safety
Abide by all
Ministry of Health food safety standards
and ensure compliance with provincial regulations.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and compliance with
Ontario food handling certifications
and requirements.
Follow and enforce safe practices for food preparation, storage, and service.
Be knowledgeable in
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
regulations and ensure safe use and handling of all kitchen chemicals and equipment.
Participate in and promote ongoing training in workplace health, safety, and sanitation.
