Key Responsibilities
Prepare and serve meals for residents and guests, ensuring all dietary needs and preferences are met.
Ensure residents are satisfied with food quality, presentation, and service.
Adapt menus and recipes to meet residents' dietary restrictions or preferences as needed.
Collaborate with the
Director of Care
to ensure nutritional content and menu compliance.
Order and receive food and supplies using
online ordering portals
; maintain accurate inventory and cost control records.
Train, supervise, and schedule kitchen staff.
Prepare and present meals for
special events and catering services
.
Provide catering for
hall rental clients
, including the ability to
calculate food costs
and
determine pricing per person or per meal
based on menu selections.
Maintain safe, clean, and sanitary food preparation areas in compliance with health and safety standards.
Apply and follow HACCP principles and food safety guidelines.
Qualifications & Skills
Previous experience in a volume food preparation environment (retirement, healthcare, or hospitality preferred).
Red Seal or equivalent professional Cook qualification (preferred).
Food Safety Certificates I and II (asset).
First Aid Certification (asset).
Knowledge of special diets and senior nutrition.
Experience using
computer-based ordering systems or supplier portals

Strong understanding of
food costing, portion control, and menu pricing
.
Excellent organizational and communication skills with a customer-service focus.
High standard of hygiene, cleanliness, and professionalism.
Availability to work
days and weekends
