Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled
Head Chef
to join our client's culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Previous head chef or executive chef experience:
Demonstrated experience in managing kitchen operations and staff is crucial.
Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, of high quality and in a timely fashion
Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
Communication skills:
Excellent communication with both staff and front-of-house staff is necessary for seamless service.
Trains, develops, and motivates supervisors and culinary staff to meet and exceed established food preparation standards consistently.
Teaches preparation according to well-defined recipes and follows up and discusses ways of constantly improving the cuisine at the property.
Provide direction for all day-to-day operations in the kitchen.
Provides guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
Actively involved in menu development and maintaining updated and accurate costing of all dishes.
Determines how food should be presented and creates decorative food displays.
Recognizes superior quality products, presentations, and flavour.
Ensures compliance with food handling and sanitation standards.
Follows proper handling and the right temperature of all food products.
Ensures all equipment in the kitchen is properly maintained and in working order per local Health Department standards.
Review customer satisfaction results and other data to identify areas of improvement.
Other Duties as assigned by senior management
Qualification
Proven experience as a Head Chef
Degree in Jamaican Food Preparation/ Culinary Arts, or equivalent education and experience.
3 years of experience in preparing Jamaican Cuisine
Current Food Handler certificate is
MANDATORY
Exceptional proven ability in Jamaican Cuisine
Leadership and Management skills
Up to date with culinary trends and optimized kitchen processes
Good understanding of useful computer programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)
