Job Description

JIP Telecom is looking for an experienced HDD Driller/Locator to join our team and support a number of different civil telecommunication projects in Calgary, AB.

Duties and Responsibilities

Read and comprehend blueprints and work orders. Walk planned bore path and identify possible issues. Communication during completion of drill shot to ensure work is completed in a planned safe manner. Installation of underground conduit with safety to the public and other utilities are a top priority. Accurately read utility locates and coordinate accordingly, ensuring required permits and locates are on hand. Participate in all tasks required alongside the crew to work towards job completion. This could include cable placement, structure placement, backfilling and remediation work among other things. Complete safety documentation and daily equipment inspections Work with minimal supervision and direction; Ensure company policies and procedures are being followed. Move/lift material weighing 50+ pounds. Willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Skills and Qualifications

Mechanically inclined Horizontal Directional Driller/Locator 2+ years of drilling or locating experience preferred. No previous utility strikes. Shallow utility experience. Safety conscious attitude is critical Excellent written and communication skills. Adaptable/problem solver. Punctual with a strong work ethic Installation experience of gas, power or telecom. Knowledge of ground disturbance procedures. Willingness to work out of town as necessary an asset Valid Class 5 drivers license, clean abstract. Trailer towing and securement an asset Level of experience will be a determining factor in wage.

REFERENCES FOR PREVIOUS DRILLING/LOCATING POSITIONS WILL BE REQUIRED AND VERIFIED

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week
