$45.60 - $56.75/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay. The period of campus closure that occurs between Christmas and New Year's Day is unpaid time.

Northern Lights College's Practical Nursing Program is seeking a temporary, full-time instructor to deliver HCAT 124 Lab Instructor: Personal Care and Assistance. This practical course offers students the opportunity to acquire personal care and assistance skills within the parameters of the HCA role. The course is comprised of class and supervised laboratory experiences, which assist the student to integrate theory from other courses to develop caregiver skills that maintain and promote the comfort, safety, and independence of individuals in community and facility contexts.

As a member of the Health Sciences Department, you will be part of a collaborative and supportive instructional team. You are expected to pursue excellence in teaching by incorporating diverse instructional strategies and fostering a learning environment rooted in inquiry, reflection, and evidence-informed practice.
Qualifications:
Required:
Completion of an accredited Diploma in Practical Nursing, or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Current unrestricted full registration as a licensed practical nurse, registered nurse, nurse practitioner, or registered psychiatric nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
Minimum of two or more years of full-time Canadian Nursing experience with relevant knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system and of the roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members and current policies and procedures within a variety of care settings.
Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners: completion of the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or willingness to enroll and complete within 5 years. Where PIDP Is not yet complete, teaching ability must be demonstrated during the interview process.
Evidence of completion of course work in Indigenous cultural safety and humility (e.g., San'yas Anti-Racism Indigenous Cultural Safety Training or an alternative course).
Evidence of completion of course in learning hub: Health Care Assistant Practice in British Columbia
Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
Committed to student motivation and achievement; and
Ability to contribute effectively as a team member.
Preferred:
Teaching experience as a nurse or health care professional.
Preference will be given to current residents of BC.
