The Peat Harvest Equipment Operator is a full-time seasonal position located in Vassar, Manitoba.

Qualifications:

Ability to work as a part of a small team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Mechanical aptitude
Able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Key Responsibilities:

Operate heavy machinery such as a tractor with a vacuum harvester or harrows
Ensure that machinery, equipment and tools are operational by performing routine and preventative maintenance (i.e. greasing tractor) and cleaning the machinery and equipment.
Willingness to train and perform duties in the plant when bog operations are suspended due to weather conditions. This includes:

Maintaining facilities including sweeping and shoveling peat moss off plant floor and lawn care \xe2\x80\x93 mowing and trimming grass
Assisting in tarping peat piles
Working on additive line to prepare and package including handling bags of raw materials (fertilizer, perlite, lime)
