Position Summary:
Responsible for picking mushrooms per customer requirements and properly maintaining mushrooms beds to minimize the damage for subsequent fruiting.
Duties and Responsibilities
:
Pick mushrooms and place into trays or boxes based on direction provided by Harvest Supervisors, who communicate daily customer requirements.
Meet requirements for size, weight, cleanliness, stem length and overall condition. The goal is to maximize quality and production and minimize bed damage
Properly clean beds during and after each day of picking
Dispose of mushroom waste into designated containers outside growing rooms
Ensure that all waste buckets are properly emptied, cleaned and sanitized. Picking knives must be cleaned and sanitized throughout the day
Ensures that all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is properly used at all times
Adheres to all harvest procedures, including food safety, associate safety, proper sanitation practices, or other company procedures
Actively participates in all required food safety and safety training and education
Performs any other duties as assigned

Interact with others in a manner that promotes respect, confidentiality, and dignity
Develop and actively foster an engaged work force, displaying professionalism at all times
Adheres to the Safety Policies, including use of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment
Reports unsafe conditions immediately to the supervisor
Reports all incidents, injuries and near misses to the supervisor immediately
Cooperates in the Early and Safe Return to Work Program if an injury or medical illness requires accommodation.
Follows all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) as trained
Adheres to all quality standards per customer specifications
Wage:
$17.85 / hour or piece work,
Hours of Work:
5 - 6 days/week
Approximately 30 to 60 hours per week / 8 to 14 hours per day
Public holidays / weekends as scheduled
Daily shift end time vary based on production needs

Qualifications:

Must be at least 16 years of age.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada with no restrictions.
Able to work quickly and accurately under pressure or tight deadlines
Able to stand and lift, use hands, eyes and legs
