The
Harvest Supervisor
is responsible for accomplishing manufacturing results by leading and coordinating daily operational aspects of the Harvest areas of the production facility. The incumbent evaluates day-to-day operations within these departments to optimize safety, productivity, efficiency and quality to meet the organizational goals and customer needs.
Harvest Supervisor Responsibilities
Ensures all employees are using personal safety equipment & following safety procedures.
Accomplishes human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching for support and providing constructive discipline; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; adhering to policies and procedures, ensures adherence to Standard Company operating procedures
Direct responsibility for the following production areas: harvest floor, offal, variety products.
Regularly coordinates with Process Floor Supervisor to maintain accuracy in dynamic Production demands.
Maintains and improves quality by establishing and enforcing organizational GMP standards as well as CFIA regulations.
Coordinates with Quality Assurance to ensure all scales and labels are checked for quality and accuracy.
Maintains and suggests improvements to workflow processes by monitoring processes, providing analysis and implementing cost reduction strategies while fostering a spirit of cooperation between departments.
Provides continuous improvement feedback to applicable departments to ensure customer satisfaction.
Consistently meets customer requirements regarding quality and packaging specifications.
Reports Defects in area of livestock back to Hog Procurement.
Responsible for ensuring optimal efficiencies and targets are being met, updates Incoming Production Control.
Communicates regularly with all departments to ensure facility, machines and lines are running at optimum levels and maximum quality.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
Familiar with WorkSafe Saskatchewan regulations.
Assists in all safety related issues (investigations, return to work plan management.
Other duties as required.
Position Requirements & Skills
5 years' experience in Meat processing industry with experience acting as a Procurement Coordinator.
5 years' experience work around livestock.
Working knowledge of WorkSafeSask regulations.
Ability to self-direct, set goals, motivate employees and create accountability.
Organized and ability to adhere to deadlines.
Analytical based Problem-Solving Skills
Critical-Thinking Skills.
Excellent communication skills - written/spoken.
Ability to build rapport quickly with key members of the leadership team.
Understanding of the key role production has on customer needs.
Manage projects on-time and on-budget.
Availability for conference calls.
Computer skills with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
Physical Requirements
Sitting and standing for extended periods of time.
Typically works Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00pm with some weekend requirements.
