Scope
As someone who is passionate for engineering, robotics, and mechatronics you will not be afraid to dive head-long into solving mining engineering problems. You can switch between autonomous, detailed engineering work and friendly, collaborative team discussions. This role will tackle the design, research, optimization, and production for hardware, structural support, protective enclosures and lighting solutions to support our camera and other sensor equipment.
Job Responsibilities

  • Work independently yet collaborates within a cross-functional team to develop future iterations of our embedded machine vision sensing solutions and challenging real-world engineering problems;
  • Research, validate and integrate commercially available products for sensing, filtering and data acquisition;
  • Perform or work with suppliers for custom design & fabrication of equipment protection and cable ruggedization;
  • Prepare hardware packages and documentation for field installation and operation;
  • Maintain product quality, performance, and robustness of applications.
Requirements
  • Electrical/Electronics, Mechatronics, Systems, or Computer Engineering degree;
  • 3-5 years of work experience in hardware design and integration. Research-based graduate degrees will be counted toward job experience;
  • Excellent level of theoretical knowledge in engineering and physics that allows you to creatively attack problems and come up with solutions in a timely manner;
  • Experience designing industrial/rugged applications (e.g machine vision, sensor-based embedded systems, camera design/integration, and/or computer engineering);
  • Experience with SolidWorks (3D CAD) or other hardware modelling software;
  • Proficient in:
  • Schematics design
  • System design validation (electrical, signaling, data acquisition, and performance testing)
  • Mechanical design and validation (e.g. thermal simulation, stress-analysis) - preferred, but not essential
  • BOM preparation
  • Rapid Prototyping
  • Assembly/production documentation
Preferred Skills and Familiarity
  • Programming languages such as C/C++, Matlab, and/or Python.
  • Industrial communication protocols: RS232/RS422, CAN/CANOpen, Ethernet/IP
  • Intel x86, NVIDIA, ARM, and Xilinx (FPGA) architectures.
  • High-speed signaling protocols (e.g. Camera Link, Ethernet, LVDS, DVI/HDMI, USB)
  • Signal Integrity testing principles (e.g. Eye-diagram analysis)
  • Power supply architectures (e.g. LDO, Buck/Boost).
  • Schematics/PCB design tools: Altium, Kicad, or Allegro
  • Electrical Test tools: DSO, MSO, DMM, Logic Analyzer & JTAG tools
  • EMI/EMC testing
