So we\xe2\x80\x99ve been sitting here brainstorming some sort of catchy intro for about 20 minutes now, and everything we come up with is either too corporate, or too lame to really come across as anything catchy. So this is what you get, not a super corporate, not super lame intro, which is essentially us saying "Hey, we might not be very good at writing catchy introductions, but we\xe2\x80\x99re good at being honest and authentic! Come join us on our development journey.\xe2\x80\x9d Sound familiar? Well if you\xe2\x80\x99ve seen this before, or at least some version of it, I promise we didn\xe2\x80\x99t copy and paste it from a random company, but instead copied and pasted it from our sister company, TerraSense Analytics. That\xe2\x80\x99s right, we\xe2\x80\x99re an ML/AI sister company of the wildly successful, super cool (and equally as authentic as us!) TerraSense. We\xe2\x80\x99re a small start up, but instead of learning as we go, we\xe2\x80\x99re a \xe2\x80\x9cbeen there, done that\xe2\x80\x9d group that are excited to repeat the successes in TerraSense and do it over again, but this time outside of the defense space and inside the world of Utilities & clean energy. Which brings us to CRWN.ai. CRWN.ai is a machine learning company that uses ultrasound to detect, localize, and categorize electrical discharge in real time, without an operator in the field. That\xe2\x80\x99s the how. The why? Identifying the changes in frequency in electrical discharge allows us to give insight into areas of wildfire risk, power outages, and exceptional electrical discharge on powerlines. If this gets walked backwards you can start to see how we can look at CRWN as an application to clean energy, through providing real time data to identify areas of inefficiencies in the power grid (and obviously reducing the risk of wildfires is pretty clean and cool too). Alright, so where do you fit in? We have our firmware engineers, and we have our machine learning engineers and then we have you! CRWN is currently testing live on transmission lines. We are looking at our long term roadmap and absolutely understand that these devices need to live on power lines for years at a time in extreme weather . Your experience in low power management is going to be critical to the success of this. The ability to design, prototype, understand and communicate the implications of design decisions to a team of machine learning engineers, software engineers and firmware engineers as well as being able to oversee third party manufacturing is equally important. HINT: A lot of our hires have stood out with a cover letter that hits on our main value of authenticity, so don\'t be scared of not sounding corporate enough in your cover letter. In fact, one of our best developers was hired based on his cover letter alone. We read every one! Skillset: Expert in power management systems, harvesting and optimization Experience doing low volume (50-500) short run manufacturing to high volume manufacturing (10,000+) Experience with prototyping with 4-10 hardware cycles from concept to design to manufacture to deployment in the field Experience automating testing Analog or digital sensor design Experience with hardware communication protocols: I2C, I2S, SPI, UART Experience integrating board design with ARM Cortex M Minimum 5 years of related industry experience Experience with electrical design tools for schematic capture and PCB layout Strong analog design experience including circuit simulation, schematic capture, PCB layout, design verification Experience with various test equipment and automating testing Ability to read and write efficient code; C/C++, Python or equivalent. Familiar with version control systems (Git, GitLab, Repo) Bonus Points: Experience in Scrum management Technical writing experience Besides the Tech we have some pretty sweet perks:
Sibling events with our sister company (Thursday beers & company outings!)
Flexible working environment: Monday - Thursday 10am-2pm PST hard hours, the rest is up to you!
We have an office in Kelowna, B.C. where everyone pops in and out of as needed. Some people are there 4 days a week, some are only there once a week (or not at all!)
We have a relocation package available as we see the greatest chance of success is going to be side by side with our team in a hybrid model, BUT if you have experience working remotely in hardware, we are open to suggestions.
No meeting Fridays
5 weeks paid vacation + Mandatory Christmas shut down
