The Opportunity:

4 month work term: Jan \xe2\x80\x93 April 2024

How You Will Contribute:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative designer to join the hardware development team working on Ciena\xe2\x80\x99s Switching products. The position will be tailored to the successful applicant and will involve working with senior designers to implement and validate leading edge circuit packs.

You will\xe2\x80\xa6

• Interact with cross-functional teams (SW/FPGA/Mech etc.) to help design & test circuit packs.
• Execute hardware verification plans and debug prototype hardware using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic/network analyzers, protocol/signal generators etc.
• Learn to read vendor datasheets and extract specifications to ensure proper circuit operation.
• Test component alternates to help alleviate supply shortages.
• Manage the deployment of prototype cards in the lab.

The Must Haves:

• Working towards completion of a Bachelors or higher in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Familiarity with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and test sets) and measurement techniques would be beneficial
• Understanding of high speed signaling, transmission lines, digital and analog design

Assets:

• Experience designing and debugging hardware is an asset
• Experience with PCB schematic capture and layout tools is an asset
