Job Description
NorZinc Ltd, owner of the Prairie Creek Mine situated near Nahanni Butte in the Northwest Territories, has a temporary employment opportunity for an experienced Handyperson. Reporting to the Site Manager, this position will be responsible for minor repairs and maintenance of domestic and industrial camp facilities as needed at the Prairie Creek Mine.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with NorZinc / WSCC standards.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Complete light maintenance duties including small engine repairs and carpentry work.
- Assist tradespeople with appliance, electrical and plumbing repairs.
- Complete roofing, painting, drywall and tile repairs and replacement as required.
- Perform general maintenance of office building infrastructure.
- Other duties may be assigned as required.
- Safety conscious, team-oriented, hardworking, and reliable.
- Experience working in a remote camp.
- Comfortable travelling on small aircraft.
- First Aid training is an asset.
- Good physical condition, able to bend, lift/pull items weighing up to 23 kg and stand for long periods.
- Capable of working safely in extreme weather conditions.
NorZinc provides a competitive hourly rate, work-related travel expenses, travel time and all food and lodging while on site at Prairie Creek Mine.
