ABOUT THE POSITION

This position as a Maintenance Technician is a key role within the company\'s property management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the company\'s portfolio of properties, performing general handyman duties, and assisting with resident requests. The position requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The ideal candidate will have experience in residential or commercial maintenance, with a strong understanding of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. The company is committed to providing a supportive and dynamic work environment, with opportunities for career growth and development. Some job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, as directed
  • Respond to unscheduled maintenance work orders as assigned
Address resident issues and service requests within 24 hours (minor repairs and maintenance tasks) * Responsible for cleaning duties, including litter pick-up, sweeping, snow shoveling, pressure washing, or other duties as assigned
  • Maintenance and watering of outdoor flowerpots and beds, seasonally
  • Accompany vendors and contractors and report progress to the management team
  • Complete maintenance as required (i.e. lighting replacement and repair, clogged sinks, toilets, or flood clean up)
  • Familiarize with the emergency operation of electrical, elevator, boiler, fire panel and safety systems, mechanical systems, emergency generator, sprinkler, and timer systems
  • Coordinate month-end duties, pre-inspection & turnover of vacant suites
  • Maintain accurate operations records, files, and documentation in accordance with established procedures
  • Uphold and report any breaches of the property\'s rules and regulations
  • Ensure friendly and positive resident interaction and communication in a polite and diplomatic manner
  • Further efforts to ensure resident satisfaction and service delivery through prompt service, ongoing communication, and follow-up
  • Emergency response and on-call duty required after business hours
  • Implement occupational health and safety protocols
  • Required to work as part of the on-call schedule
THE REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent, college or university degree preferred
  • Related hands-on experience with multi-residential property management
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems
  • Proficiency with Smart Phones and two-way radios
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written, and the ability to develop working relationships with staff, contractors, and residents
  • Commercial/retail building operations experience is an asset but not required.
COMPENSATION
  • The salary is between $50,000 and $55,000 per annum. There is overtime pay and on-call premium pay
  • Performance bonus up to 5%
  • 3 weeks of PTO
  • 10 paid sick days
  • 2 paid charity days
  • Full dental, extended health, long-term/short-term disability, and vision coverage.
  • 4% pension matching
