Temporary assignment - approximately 20 weeks POSITION SUMMARY
Hand hygiene is a key foundation in the organization's quality initiatives related to preventing healthcare associated infections. The hand hygiene coordinator will have oversight for organization wide hand hygiene program initiatives and hand hygiene compliance auditing in consultation with the IPAC manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct auditing of hand hygiene compliance at all campuses and implement an automated auditing system
  • Provide regular reports to the Infection Prevention and Control Manager and key internal stakeholders regarding the hand hygiene program and compliance rates
  • Regularly review hand hygiene compliance rates, determine areas requiring follow-up and develop strategies to assist in improvement
  • Work closely with the Infection Prevention and Control team to ensure that hand hygiene education is integrated into orientation and annual reviews for all staff as well as training auditors in clinical areas
  • Work closely with the IPAC manager to continue hand hygiene program development and implementation of new initiatives
  • Report hand hygiene compliance to the MOHLTC as part of public reporting requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post secondary education in a related field required
  • 3-5 years experience in a healthcare related field
  • Excellent knowledge of medical terminology
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven education and training skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply Infection Prevention and Control best practice related to hand hygiene (Health Canada, PIDAC).
  • Effective written, communication and presentation skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, database software and data analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
  • Ability to develop partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and model positive change
