Job Summary:

The Half Ton Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a half-ton pickup truck in support of company operations. This role involves transporting waste while complying with all road safety laws, company policies, and operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Safely operate a half-ton pickup truck for assigned routes, job sites, and operational tasks

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any defects or safety concerns

Adhere to all Ontario traffic laws, road conditions, and weather-related safety requirements

Load, secure, and transport waste in accordance with safety guidelines

Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and team members

Maintain accurate records related to vehicle usage, routes, and assignments

Ensure the vehicle is kept clean, secure, and in proper working condition

Immediately report incidents, collisions, near-misses, or unsafe conditions

Qualifications & Requirements

Valid Ontario G Driver's Licence (mandatory)

Clean or acceptable driver's abstract

Ability to drive safely in varying road and weather conditions

Basic knowledge of vehicle safety and inspection procedures

Ability to follow instructions and company policies

Strong awareness of workplace and road safety

Physical & Working Conditions

Ability to sit for extended periods while driving

Ability to lift and move materials as required (within safe limits)

Exposure to outdoor weather conditions

Comply with all company health and safety policies

Operate vehicles in a manner that does not endanger oneself or others

Exercise sound judgment when road or weather conditions are unsafe
