Position Details: 2 Positions - Full-time, Permanent
Salary Range: $81,300 \xe2\x80\x93 $101,600, based on a 35-hour work week. Salary for this position will commensurate with each individual\'s education and/or experience as it relates to the position.
Location: Remote/hybrid in area of responsibility: Northern Region (Edmonton, Camrose, Vermillion area) and Southern Region (Calgary, Brooks, Red Deer area)

Together, we conserve and restore some of the most valuable and threatened landscapes on the planet.What You Will DoThe Alberta Operations team is looking for two Habit Asset Management Leads, one that will cover the Northern Alberta region and the other to cover the Southern Region. In collaboration with the Head of HAM (Habitat Asset Management), this position will lead the HAM team in the delivery of the provincial goals and objectives.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop annual and multiyear work plans along with budgets that include wetland project repairs, rebuilds, naturalizations and decommissions.
  • Oversee the management of the Dense nest Cover program utilizing haying and grazing as tools to ensure continued alignment to regional and national guidelines.
  • Support provincial and regional working groups in the development of ongoing land management strategies.
  • Oversee professional development, recruitment and retention and performance management of HM field staff.
  • Manage and provide guidance to staff on contracts/contractors with regards to operations & cost control.
  • Ensuring DUC\xe2\x80\x99s corporate policies, including Occupational Health & Safety, are adhered to, and efficiently implemented in the workplace.
Your collaborative approach will ensure a sense of team, with the coordination of engineering, administration, and conservation delivery staff to meet program planning and implementation objectives. You are independent, resourceful and possess strong leadership, organizational and time management skills to be able to deliver program objectives within tight deadlines.Requirements
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in wildlife management, biology, agriculture, ecology or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in conservation/environment programs.
  • Strong planning, reporting and project management skills.
  • Excellent organization, verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of waterfowl and other animal and plant biology.
  • Experience with various outdoor equipment including GPS, ATV\xe2\x80\x99s, Boats etc.
  • A valid class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
Assets
  • Experience with ArcMap and other GIS tools
  • Knowledge of working farms and practices, annual crop and forage/grazing production systems.
  • Knowledge of the Alberta Water Act, Dam Safety Regulations, and the approvals processes.
