Faculty of Kinesiology

is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Gymnastics Coordinator.


Reporting to the Gymnastics Coordinator, Preschool Programs in Active Living, this position necessitates extensive knowledge of gymnastics, and self-sufficiency to coordinate and execute the Recreation, Trampoline and Tumbling, and Rhythmic Gymnastics programs. The incumbent will provide a range of coaching, from pre-school to advanced recreational levels. To develop and maintain lesson plans for the programs. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all Recreational, and Rhythmic Gymnastics programs.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

(job functions include but are not limited to):

High quality instruction/coaching of gymnastic programs. Teach and mentor gymnastics staff. Responsible for preparing a budget within established faculty guidelines. Budget information is gathered, analyzed and compiled accurately within guidelines. In conjunction with the Preschool Gymnastics Coordinator, recruit, hire, train, schedule and supervise 20-30 hourly gymnastic coaches in conjunction with the recreational program. Implement and administer regular reporting processes with staff. Evaluate staff performances, mentor and educate student and non-student employees. Coordinate regular meetings and training sessions for evaluation, education (certifications), and feedback. Organize all details regarding competitions and performance for the Recreational, Trampoline & tumbling and Rhythmic gymnastics programs including travel expenses and bookings, competition registration, parent communications and expense reimbursement as necessary. Supervise and administer Recreation, Trampoline and Tumbling, and Rhythmic Gymnastics programs. Develop and maintain lesson plans for the pre-school and recreational gymnastics programs in conjunction with the Preschool program coordinator. New program development. Initiate development of new programs based on facility usage/availability and popularity. Evaluate facility usage and programming on a regular basis.

Qualifications / Requirements:



Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology or a related field, and NCCP Level II. 2 years of recreational gymnastics coaching experience. Demonstrate strong communication, team and customer service skills. Knowledge and experience with competitive men's and women's artistic gymnastics. Experience in training and developing gymnastic coaches. Experience and training in risk management of gymnastics and gymnastics facilities. Current Standard First Aid and CPR Certification. Valid Police Security Clearance Check with a Vulnerable Sectors Search. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of University Business Systems (CICS, PeopleSoft).
