Corlane Sporting Goods is a long-standing, family-run outfitter serving hunters, anglers and outdoor people across northeastern B.C. We pride ourselves on craftsmanship, honest service, and keeping customers safe and prepared. As we grow our in-store service bench and custom build capabilities, we're hiring a hands-on Gunsmith / Machinist who loves working with metal and firearms.
What you'll do
Diagnose, repair, service and customize a wide range of firearms (bolt-action rifles, shotguns, pistols, etc.).
Chamber barrels, headspace checks, fit barrels, reamers and finish work.
Operate lathes manual, milling machines, drill presses and other shop equipment to produce precision firearm components and accessories.
Threading, drilling, tapping, fitting muzzles, building and installing custom muzzle devices and barrel work.
Assemble/disassemble firearms for repair, upgrades or inspections.
Perform routine maintenance, safety inspections and test-fit work.
Perform welding and soldering tasks as required for repairs and custom builds.
Use fibreglass, epoxies and composite materials for stock work or custom components (bonus).
Provide clear, respectful customer consults -- explain repairs, quotes and options.
Maintain accurate shop records, follow safety procedures and comply with firearms regulations.
Required qualifications & skills
Proven mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
Comfortable and experienced with manual lathes and milling machines.
Experience with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators).
Familiarity with threading, reaming, drilling and tapping operations.
Solid problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Legally eligible to work in Canada and able to handle firearms according to Canadian law (having a valid PAL/RPAL is an asset -- we will verify as part of hiring).
Commitment to shop safety, cleanliness and professional conduct.
Preferred skills & experience
Previous experience as a gunsmith (formal training or apprenticeship).
Prior work chambering barrels and headspacing.
Experience building and installing custom muzzle brakes and threaded systems.
Welding (MIG/TIG/rod) and soldering experience.
Experience working with fiberglass, epoxy and stock repair/shaping.
Formal machinist certification or gunsmithing diploma is a strong plus.
Portfolio or photos of previous custom builds, repairs or machined parts.
