Job Description


The award-winning Vancouver Convention Centre (VCC) is currently in search of a Guest Services Team Lead to join our team. This critical role will report directly to the Assistant Manager, Facilities Services, and is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of exceptional service to all guests and clients at our facility, and does so through the leadership of the Guest Service Operations Centre staff. Guest Services Operation Centre is the Communication Hub and Command Centre of the facility.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • As the Incident Commander in the state of emergency situations, you will coordinate emergency response and liaise with emergency services in the absence of Senior Managers.
  • Using your exceptional leadership skills, you will provide direction, supervision, and training for all Guest Services Operation Centre Staff including delivering briefings, deployment, and break relief coordination.
  • Oversee building integrity and condition including door security, signage, stanchion, and damage, reporting back anomalies to facilities management.
  • Monitor Person of Interest (POI) calls and deploy security and/or VPD as required.
  • As a team player, you will provide additional support to the Manager on Duty (MOD) and Building Engineers as required including building security, emergency situations, VIP visits, and protests.
  • Lead by example and ensure all employees are following VCC\xe2\x80\x99s policies, procedures, and health and safety guidelines.
  • Live VCC\xe2\x80\x99s values, which include being a role model for service excellence and service recovery ensuring client, guest, staff and facility concerns are dealt with professionally, appropriately and timely.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
  • You will have education and experience in Law Enforcement or Security Operations, combined with working knowledge of the Criminal Code, Charter of Rights & Freedom, and building regulations.
  • Previous experience with CCTV and electronic access control systems is considered an asset.
  • You will do everything in your role to meet or exceed guest/client expectations.
  • Using your exceptional communication skills, you will be comfortable using a broad range of communications styles to different audiences in diverse situations.
  • Ability to physically handle exposure to seasonal heat and cold in an outdoor and indoor environment, standing for extended periods of time, and sporadic extensive walking from one location to another on concrete surfaces.
  • You must be mentally able to handle interdepartmental conflict and moderate stress caused by multitasking, prioritizing, and dealing with emergency situations.
