Major Duties



  • Manufacture, fit and assemble machine guarding, primarily using extruded materials, brackets, plexiglass and sheet metal, for factory automation projects.


Specific Responsibilities



  • Performs routine tasks related to the metal fabrication and assembly of parts for factory automation equipment.
  • Install plexiglass guards and fixtures on automated work cells.
  • Operate various saws, hand tools, sanders, polishers, punching and forming equipment typically found in a fabrication environment.
  • Cut and form sheet metals, plastics, expanded metals and wire mesh to create machine barriers.
  • Work with engineered drawings and itemized material lists to lay out, procure, and preassemble doors, panels and fixed guards.
  • Work in conjunction with the machine manufacturing department to finalize guarding functionality and safety requirements.
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.


Qualifications



Education:
  • A grade 12 diploma specializing in welding and machine shop or equivalent.

Experience:
  • Requires a practical working knowledge of machine shop and metal fabrication procedures. Also requires the ability to read blueprints, as well as a good mechanical aptitude.
