The Grower will be responsible for the following:

• to assist with the production of quality forest seedling crops by applying effective forest nursery practices and principles;
• to operationally assist, co-ordinate and train forest nursery workers in required nursery work activities;
• to keep neat and accurate records including computerized record keeping systems;
• to operate computerized and other control systems;
• to maintain, repair and upgrade nursery facilities and ensure proper maintenance of equipment in use;
• Follow a company directed IPM program, applying pesticides as needed.

Weekend work and shift work will be required.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

The minimum qualifications for the position will be;

• Completion of a diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture or Forestry and be willing to obtain a pesticide applicator certificate.
• Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license with reliable transportation
• Must also be able to operate greenhouse equipment and climate control systems,
• Coordinate and supervise operational tasks,
• Task co-ordination: working in a team atmosphere;
• Work with minimal direct supervision and perform basic maintenance on facilities and equipment.

Walhachin is a small town located in Gold Country in the Thompson Okanagan region, located 10 km west Kamloops Lake, and 65 km west of Kamloops on the south shore of the Thompson River near Highway 1. The region can accurately be described as a bustling oasis in the midst of cactus, tumbleweed and desert-like climate. Surrounded by lakes, camping, hiking and popular ski resorts, the areas has something for everyone.
