Reporting to the Director of Regulatory, Earth and Social Sciences, this is a dual role where you will provide both leadership of a 40 person team plus technical and project management expertise to support a variety of projects that range in type, size, and complexity.
You will join a growing team of environmental professionals, based in Prairies and North, with the successful candidate ideally located in either the
Saskatoon,
Calgary or Edmonton
office. As Group Manager, you will play a critical role in delivering our strategic objectives and continue to build and grow our EIA and Permitting related services.

What you can expect to do here:

You will support project managers and take on team lead responsibilities including:
Review of cost estimates and other client deliverables within your assigned delegation of authority (DOA).

Responsible for the day to day scheduling of staff to align their skillsets and career goals with appropriate project requirements
Participate in human resources activities throughout the year, including annual performance and salary reviews, hiring and recruitment processes, and employee onboarding and offboarding.
Working with the Regulatory, Earth and Social Sciences Director and Vice President, support the financial success of the team by monitoring financial results and working to implement changes or improvements to achieve desired financial results.
Communicate company policies and mandates as provided by leadership or elsewhere to the team and oversee their application if necessary.
Foster collaboration across the team and other WSP Business Lines.
Inspire team commitment to our WSP Guiding Principles and Vision.
Provide guidance and mentorship to team project managers.
Participate in business development activities to support growth and strengthen client relationships.
Lead monthly group meetings for the EIA and Permitting team.
What you'll bring to WSP:
An undergraduate degree in Environmental Science or related discipline
Minimum of 10 years of relevant consulting experience.
Self-motivated leadership style with excellent inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.
A proven track record of successful business development, and of fostering client relationships
Strong demonstration of health and safety leadership.
Commitment to technical excellence and ability to write proposals and technical reports
Strategic and business planning experience, financial, forecasting and budgeting experience
Adaptability and flexibility to prioritize and manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and change and the ability to build partnerships across disciplines and areas of expertise.
