TreeWiseGuys is in search of a grounds-person looking to gain experience as an arborist in the Parry Sound District. As a young & rapidly growing business (7th season) we are able to offer you the unique opportunity to acquire one-on-one training in the field on a daily basis, and a chance to build a long-term career with TreeWiseGuys. You'll be working under the supervision of veteran arborists with over 25 years of combined experience. As a company that deals mainly in residential cottage-country tree maintenance, we are faced with interesting challenges every day that require technical rigging, expert risk assessment & creative solutions. We see this as an opportunity to train you to become an extremely skilled, knowledgeable & precise arborist. The selected applicant will be expected to...
Work alongside TreeWiseGuys crew leaders, satisfying both the expectations of our clients & TreeWiseGuys Inc.
Be reliable, professional & engaged
Prepare work-site (Assess job/participate in tailboard, unload gear, tool checks, saw sharpening/fuelling, rope management, etc.)
Follow/Participate in TreeWiseGuys Jobber Schedule to ensure preparation, smoothness & full understanding of jobs
Removing, Planting, Pruning, & Assessing healthy/hazardous trees on a daily basis.
Safely operating full-sized wood-chippers, mini skid-steer & stump grinder (heavy equipment operation is an asset)
Helping with groundwork such as bucking large/small woody materials & ensuring job-site is left in a clean, safe manner.
Communicating with clients, ensuring customer satisfaction while being able to handle difficult or uncomfortable situations with clients when misunderstandings arise.
Assessing, planning & installing technical rigging systems (such as controlled/free-fall speed-lining, multi-point rigging, positive/negative rigging, ginning, Setting Guy-Lines, V-rigging, Span rigging, Port-a-Wrap use with frictionless/friction causing rigging systems, etc.)
Felling small & large trees (with/without mechanical advantage), safely felling hazardous/storm damaged trees.
Maintain professional grade tools/equipment
Our work is seasonal & so are the employment contracts, providing 40+ hour work weeks between the months of March - December (optional weekend work available as well). We are still in the fertility stages of our business so there is no ceiling on how far you can grow with our business, as we continue to develop the company. We aim to build a long-term team, and are eager to invest our time/compensation into the right candidate.
