Job Title: Grounds Maintenance Crew Lead Position Type: Full Time; Seasonal Wage: Dependent on Experience and Performance Reports to: Grounds Maintenance Foreman Purpose: To effectively supervise Grounds Maintenance crew members; ensure all contract obligations are met in their designated timeframe, ensure all crews are prepared with safe and operational equipment, and all safety protocols and paperwork are completed. Be in communication and perform orders from Grounds Maintenance Foreman. Duties and Responsibilities: - Coordinate partners and vehicles
- Communicate with Grounds Maintenance Crew Manager
- Verify that suitable equipment is selected and operational for use
- Perform or delegate fuel checks on vehicles and ensure pre-inspections are completed on equipment
- Ensure Safety Paperwork is fully completed - pre-trips, H.I.T Lists, Emergency response plan, working alone, reporting all incidents, Toolbox talks
- Follow and promote proper training and workplace best practices of installation, safety, and company standards
- Always maintain a clean and safe job site
- Notify the Shop of any tools, equipment, and machinery in need of maintenance
- Assist Grounds Maintenance Crew Manager with instructing proper work methods, monitoring the quality of work, adhering to work schedules, and aim times, following safe work practices, and providing feedback
- Communicate with crews and assist in troubleshooting
- Note improvements and efficiencies; identify areas for improvement, hot topics, and issues to be discussed
- Problem-solve complaints and issues with the approval of the Grounds Maintenance Foreman and Ownership
- Quality inspections as required
- Coordinate equipment repair and maintenance
- Ensure equipment and tools are returned to their rightful locations
- Collect completed route sheets for data-entry
- Rectify complaints and deficiencies in a timely manner
- Develop, implement, and manage systems and processes of the department; requesting assistance from the safety, HR, or other managers is required
- Effectively manage all feedback and report to Grounds Maintenance Forman
- Other duties as required Qualification Requirements: - Class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and clean driving record
- Experience hauling a trailer
- Ability to develop and implement change effectively
- Ability to lead and direct a team successfully
- Exceptional communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Education and/or Experience: - A strong understanding of Ground Maintenance with a minimum 2 years experience in a Grounds Maintenance role
- Experience managing a team
- Knowledge of the landscaping industry required Work Conditions: Physical Conditions: The duties of Grounds Maintenance Crew Lead are carried out primarily in an outdoor setting. - Uses hands, arms and shoulders when using various types of equipment (daily)
- Ability to cross on uneven ground (daily)
- Ability to work outside for long periods of time (daily)
- Lift and/or move up to 50lbs (daily) Psychological/Stress Conditions: The Grounds Maintenance Crew Lead position workload and environment do not generally increase employee emotional or stress levels. - Interruptions and requests from multiple areas (daily).
- Multitasking (daily).
- Repetitive movements
- Job demands versus time constraints (daily).
- Periods of intense concentration when meeting deadlines and during peak periods. Work Conditions: The Grounds Maintenance Crew Lead works independently and in a team environment. - Works in a shared and consultative manner with other employees (daily).
- Wide variety of tasks requiring the ability to manage multiple unrelated projects and make independent decisions (daily).
- Self-motivated and quality driven to perform independent projects (daily).
