Ground Crew Personnel - St. Andrews Airport (CYAV), Manitoba
Location: St. Andrews, MB (10?NM north of Winnipeg)
Type: Full?time (35-40?hrs/wk), shift work including weekends and holidays
Wage: Dependent upon experience
Position Overview
We are seeking dedicated Ground Crew Personnel to join our team at a small but active airport. This role is essential in ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable ground operations in all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Cargo Handling
Safely load and unload cargo, baggage, and freight from aircraft.
Operate ground equipment such as tugs and forklifts to assist with cargo handling.
Ensure all cargo is handled with care and properly secured in accordance with company standards and regulations.
Verify cargo and baggage manifests and ensure that all items are correctly identified and routed.
Ramp Operations
Perform aircraft marshaling, directing aircraft to parking positions on the ramp.
Ensure that aircraft are safely and efficiently parked in the correct positions.
Assist in the setup of ground support equipment, including power units, air conditioning units, and other aircraft support systems.
Remove the aircraft to tow bars and ensure that all ramp equipment is stored properly.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all safety protocols and regulations when handling hazardous materials, dangerous goods, and other special cargo items.
Ensure that all work is conducted in compliance with airport and airline procedures and regulatory requirements.
Conduct pre-shift and post-shift checks on equipment and report any defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
Customer Service
Provide excellent customer service when interacting with passengers, crew, and other airport personnel.
Assist with the boarding and deplaning process as needed.
Ensure that the aircraft is loaded and unloaded efficiently, and all cargo is delivered to the appropriate destination on time.
Equipment Operation
Operate ground support equipment safely and efficiently, including tugs and aircraft pushback equipment.
Perform basic maintenance checks and routine maintenance on ramp equipment.
Notify supervisors of any need for equipment repairs or replacements.
Weather Preparedness
Adapt work activities to varying weather conditions, including snow, ice, rain, and extreme temperatures.
Use appropriate safety gear to ensure protection during inclement weather conditions.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with other team members and departments to ensure smooth operations and timely cargo handling.
Maintain clear communication with ground crew and other personnel to ensure proper coordination of flight operations.
General Support
Assist in the daily operations of the cargo hangar and ramp area.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Assist with inventory checks, cargo sorting, and preparing shipments for delivery or arrival.
Additional Duties
Other duties assigned by the cargo manager or management team, including special projects, training initiatives, or temporary assignments in other departments.
