We are looking to fill the position of Groomer at Fernie Alpine Resort. Working with a phenomenal team, you are content operating before guests arrive and after they have left to ensure the best ski conditions. Conveniently, working after opening hours also means that you are free to ski and ride during every day. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, physically capable and familiar with the resort terrain. You Will:
  • Safe and efficient operation of grooming equipment within the resort
  • Grooming and preparation of ski runs and Nordic trails
  • Maintain snow conditions and levels around ski lifts and access roads
  • Assist with transportation of freight and other goods
  • Daily inspection and care of the Grooming fleet. Operators are responsible to report any maintenance required to the Vehicle Mechanics and Operations Manager
  • Reports and/or eliminate any unsafe terrain hazards on groomed runs and trail access routes
  • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and integrity of the grooming fleet
  • Must display a high degree of personal risk tolerance that reflects the safety of all guests and staff
  • Competent use of the machine implements to prepare a grooming surface and correct any hazards such as rocks and terrain features
  • Must display maturity and possess an ability to keep calm under challenging situations
  • Know and adhere to the policies, rules and protocols outlined in the Resort of the Canadian Rockies Employee Handbook
  • Know and follow all safe work procedures included in the Safety Management Program
  • Know and comply with all expectations of the Injury Management/Return-to-Work Programs
  • To perform other tasks and duties that are applicable
You Have:
  • Must hold a valid driver\'s license
  • Fundamental ability to work in a team; eager to accept and deliver constructive feedback
  • Contribute and execute the nightly Grooming plan as a team
  • Comprehensive understanding of Snow-sports and Grooming requirements (essential)
  • Several years of experience within Mountain operations
  • Candidates must be mechanically inclined
  • Previous grooming experience
  • Relevant heavy equipment operating experience
Physical:
  • Advanced skiing and snowboarding ability
  • Must work night and evening shifts
  • Must be in excellent physical condition, heavy lifting and manual labor may be required
