Collingwood Neighbourhood House (CNH) is a not-for-profit Society serving the Renfrew-Collingwood (RC) neighbourhood of East Vancouver. CNH's mandate is to promote the well-being of the Renfrew-Collingwood community by providing leadership and working collaboratively with individuals, families, agencies and other groups to develop and support inclusive, innovative, sustainable initiatives and services that respond to the community's social, educational, economic, health, cultural and recreational needs.

JOB OVERVIEW



The Grocery Delivery Driver will work closely with the Grocery Shopping Coordinator to pick up and deliver groceries weekly to vulnerable, isolated seniors living in the Renfrew Collingwood community. This role is vital in providing a friendly point of in person contact and monitoring to ensure that we are responsive to emergent needs with timely support. This is a permanent part-time position subject to continued funding.

Line of Authority

The Grocery Delivery Driver is accountable to the Senior Manager of Older Adults Programs and Services and is part of the seniors' team.

RESPONSIBILITIES



Inspection of the vehicle before use (pre-trip inspection), reporting any problems or issues with the vehicle.

Maintain cleanliness and roadworthiness of a 15-passenger, wheelchair accessible, vehicle.

Efficiently route plan to minimize wait time and ensure timely delivery.

Communicate delivery ETA with participants.

Keep organized photocopies of receipts of grocery orders delivered weekly and share with coordinator.

Ability to carry groceries (may carry up to 40 lbs. with the help of a delivery cart) to participants' homes (apartment units and/or houses) and when needed put items in the fridge.

Collect payments/donations as required.

Foster a positive experience with program participants.

Assist with team events as needed, such as Holiday Lunch or Collingwood Days.

Establish and maintain rapport with key stakeholders such as Save On Foods and other coordinators.

Deliver and collect participant feedback forms as needed/requested.

Deliver CNH surveys, information about programs and services as needed/requested.

Respond and troubleshoot participant concerns as they arise and include the grocery coordinator.

Additional Duties

Work as part of CNH Seniors Program Team to assist with the development and implementation of team-based initiatives and programs.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS



Two years recent related experience with vulnerable populations providing community outreach, group facilitation, and social support or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.

An egalitarian philosophy and non-judgmental attitude (i.e., gender, age, culture, race, sexual orientation, language ability and more.

Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and life situations.

Previous experience providing culturally safe, trauma-informed care to marginalized populations.

Experience working with interdisciplinary, culturally diverse teams.

Respects diversity and promotes inclusion in the workplace.

Knowledge of relevant community resources, services, and networks within Renfrew-Collingwood.

Knowledge of issues facing senior's population in Vancouver.

Demonstrated ability in connecting participants to community supports and resources.

Demonstrated ability to manage practicum students and volunteers.

Experience working collaboratively with community service providers.

Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, calendar and email.

Strong written, listening, and oral communication skills in English.

Additional language(s) would be an asset.

Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The successful applicant will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check (CRC). Note that previous convictions not related to this position may not exclude applicants.

A Class 4 unrestricted license and a good driving record for the past 5 years is required for this position.

Schedule:

Wednesdays.

Location:

Work from home, in office (5288 Joyce St) and in the community.

This is a unionized position covered by a Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 1936.
