As a Greenhouse Worker doing seeding and planting, your duties and responsibilities include:
Discuss plant growing activities with Growing Manager that are consistent with planned production schedules.
Fill plug trays in preparation for sowing seeds.
Sow seeds for annuals, herbs and vegetables following the schedule provided by the grower.
Record all seeds that are sown and update inventory of seed package.
Monitor seed germination progress and move plug trays from the germination chamber to the greenhouse at the appropriate time.
Help the Growing Manager receive shipments of cuttings, plugs and tags.
At planting time, inspect crops\xe2\x80\x99 physical development and report any issues.
Record all plants that are transplanted.
Record all plants that are discarded.
Monitor pests or disease to maintain quality standards and inform Growing Manager or Shift Supervisor if any problems are observed.
Assists the Growing Manager or Shift Supervisor by performing other duties as assigned: watering, spacing, pinching, pot filling, tagging plants and inventory maintenance.
Work with the team to transfer plants from the production greenhouses to the Garden Centre.
Record all plants moved to retail and help maintain inventory records.
Assist the Growing Manager, Shift Supervisor, and garden center staff with maintenance once plants move to retail.
Carry out your duties in a responsible manner which ensures the health and safety of all customers and colleagues and adheres to the Company\xe2\x80\x99s Health and Safety Handbook.
Ensure required training is current, such as the Health and Safety training.
Ensure that attendance, timekeeping, and application to your work is of the highest standard.
Ensure you have a clean and tidy appearance and comply with any dress code in place by New North Greenhouses for the duty you are carrying out at the time.
Comply with the standards described in our Employee Handbook and any amendments that are implemented.
