Jewell's Country Market is hiring for seasonal Greenhouse positions!

(Must be currently living in PEI and available to work in PEI)

(LMIA or TFW not available.)

Do you enjoy working with plants in an exciting fast-paced environment? Come join our team at Jewell's Country Market Greenhouses! We specialize in growing ornamental annual bedding plants along with herbs, vegetables, perennials, trees & shrubs.

We are looking for motivated and positive candidates who enjoy working hands-on with plants.

Full and Part time positions are available from April - July. Position start dates vary as production increases week by week. Some positions will start in the last 2 weeks of March, some positions will start in early April.

Work Term

Seasonal - March - July

Hours: 30 - 48 / week

Education: Non required

Experience: Non required, farm or greenhouse experience and asset

Working Conditions

Physically demanding- must lift min 30lbs

Fast paced, walking, standing, bending and lifting

Working area is inside greenhouses and outdoors so expect to work in all weather conditions

Specific Tasks

• Propagating plants- planting bulbs, sowing seeds, transplanting seedlings, taking cuttings of plants, transplanting rooted plants, etc.
• Customer service- Working on the sales floor directly helping customers with their plant selection, needs and questions
• Container design and planting, taking custom planting orders
• Moving plants amongst greenhouses, refilling and stocking retail floor and displays, assisting customers with moving large purchases (trees)
• Operating greenhouse equipment such as a soil filling machine, watering systems.
• Maintaining a clean work environment
• Watering plants is a specific role we hire for- additional tasks will be discussed if a candidate is fitting for the role.

Requirements

• Must be able to accommodate a flexible schedule as shift hours include mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Physical stamina is required as duties involve a fast paced environment, standing and walking for long hours, repetitive moving/lifting trays of plants, bending, crouching and kneeling, while working in warm temperatures.
• Hardworking with a strong work ethic
• Ability to work alone and in a team environment

Other Information

• Experience is not required but is an asset
• This role requires each employee to be flexible and adaptable as we have multiple areas of work in the greenhouse department. These areas include various tasks and you may move through the different areas/roles throughout your shift. No one is limited to a specific task or job.

Not Required but is an asset:

Certificate of PEI Provincial Pesticide Applicator Class G ( to apply chemical fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides and pesticides. There is a specific role and hourly rate available for an application with this qualification.

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
