Reporting to the Designer of Exhibits, Graphics and Production, the Graphics Technician II is responsible for the preparation, production and installation of exhibition graphics and signage for the Gallery. The incumbent ensures that all graphics are prepared and installed with precision and consistency, supporting the Gallery's presentation standards and visitor experience.

What You Will Do



Prepare all exhibition and signage graphics including die-cut vinyl (weeding, pre-masking) and print graphics (mounting, trimming) at both small and large scale. Install all graphics to a high degree of accuracy and craftsmanship. Follow technical layouts and production drawings to efficiently prepare and install signage and exhibition graphics. Consult on production setup to optimize installation results. Work closely and collaboratively with other Installers and Designers. Perform basic carpentry related to departmental storage and specialized signage. Maintain tools, equipment and workspace to ensure a clean, organized and safe environment. Supports the Gallery's overall goals towards a cohesive brand voice and identity.

This role contributes to the overall success of the Publishing team and ensures alignment with the Gallery's strategic goals.

What You Bring to the Role




As a Graphics Technician II, you have completed Grade 12, supplemented by technical school courses in design, production or construction, along with a minimum of one (1) year of experience installing large-scale graphics, die-cut vinyl and signage preparation, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.


In addition, you bring:

Knowledge of design installation principles, methods, techniques, materials and tools. Understanding of computer software relevant to the work. Strong problem-solving skills with an innovative and continuous improvement mindset. Ability to work with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with team members. Skill in the use of power and hand tools, and comfort with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, MS Teams). Experience working in a cultural institution or with artwork (an asset). Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work on ladders. Training for scissor lift operation (provided if required).

COMPENSATION AND WORK ENVIRONMENT



Salary:

Pay Grade 18

: Step 1:

$27.38 per hour.

This is a unionized position. This assignment falls under the jurisdiction of CUPE Local 15 - VMECW.


This is an in-office position at the Gallery's downtown Vancouver location.
