You will collaborate with other team members and with key Teknion personnel to ensure all the data is complete, accurate and help to resolve issues.

You will be given the opportunity to grow, learn through a variety of tasks. You will build new and improve existing CAD symbols (digital representations of our products) as part of our vast array of products. You will be responsible for the creation of Installation Guides and other marketing materials using AutoCAD and SolidWorks software.

You will also have the opportunity to build our in-house capabilities: learn new software, and coach others.

What will you do?
  • Liaise with Product and Program Management, Design and Product Engineering to obtain accurate information for the creation of Installation Guides and CAD symbols.
  • Simplify engineering models for creation of CAD Symbols and apply Teknion symbols standards.
  • Review, analyze, improve and test existing CAD symbols to ensure they meet Teknion standards.
  • Assemble models from SAT, STEP and/or IGES files in a 3D AutoCAD environment and create illustrations to assist the Desktop Publishing team.
  • Create Installation Guides using clear and logical steps.
  • Review Engineering Change Orders, determine impact on existing installation guides and modify accordingly.
  • Publish and distribute completed installation guides through appropriate channels.
  • Respond to questions from internal and external customers regarding product installation and symbols.
  • Working with the company\xe2\x80\x99s AutoCAD symbols, product database and material swatches, connect materials to CAD layers and upload and assign CAD layers and materials to products in the product database.
  • Create catalogs in Configura\xe2\x80\x99s Catalog Creator that can be used in Configura\xe2\x80\x99s CET Designer software. The work in Catalog Creator includes converting 3D models and gathering, uploading, and auditing data (metadata, material swatches, images, product information, etc.) to be used in the catalog.
  • Update and maintain existing mapping and product catalogs.
  • Identify, propose, document and implement improvements to existing processes.
What skills, experience and education are we looking for?
  • Post-Secondary education, typically in Mechanical Engineering Technician or Technologist.
  • Ability to interpret installation instructions and technical drawings.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks (both 2D and 3D).
  • Proficient in creating neat and detailed drawings for part, assemblies and Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Must be detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD LISP and VBA knowledge is an asset.
