Job Summary





The Digital Graphic Designer will support the communications team and other CMHA Ontario departments as an in-house creative resource. This position is responsible for the creative aspects of designing and developing

print media

,

branding

and

annual report design

for CMHA Ontario, the CMHA branch network and associated brands in a fast-paced, fun and demanding environment.



Core Responsibilities





Use a solid foundation in graphic design to conceptualize and execute various CMHA Ontario communication materials, both digital and print. Design and produce high-quality print collateral including brochures, posters, packaging, signage and annual reports. Lead the visual development and creative concepts of annual and impact reports - including layout design, infographics and data presentation, ensuring alignment with brand tone and storytelling goals. Translate mental health and addiction information into high quality visual design concepts. Work collaboratively with marketing, content and strategy teams to deliver polished, effective materials. Develop creative concepts, layouts and visual storytelling for complex multi-page documents. Collaborate with content writers, data analysts and leadership to translate information into engaging visual formats (infographics, charts, etc.). Take direction from written or spoken ideas and convert them into images, layouts and other designs in a timely fashion. Provide high quality customer service to both internal and external collaborators and stakeholders. Positively influence the organization's corporate image using corporate style guidelines, procedures and supporting materials, ensuring all documents produced by the division are to the highest design standards. Continually review and recommend improvement to workflow processes to ensure ongoing efficiency of design services between the communications department, CMHA Ontario programs and branches.



Skills & Experience





Post-secondary degree/diploma in Graphic Design, Multimedia, Web Design or a related field. Work experience as a graphic designer producing a wide assortment of communications collateral including print ads, graphics, newsletters, fact sheets, email blasts, social media posts, websites, etc. Possess an excellent understanding of current visual design trends, keeping well-informed with emerging trends. Demonstrate artistic and conceptual abilities in creating designs for engaging and dynamic user experiences. Detail-oriented, able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and providing quick turnaround. Must be expert or proficient in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and emerging online graphic design platform and visual suites (e.g. Canva, Figma, Adobe Express). While the core responsibilities center on print design, proficiency in creating visual assets for web and digital platforms, video production and editing will be considered a strong asset.



Salary





Hiring Rate: This position pays between $62,048.49 and $63,891.40 per annum, based on a 35-hour work week.



The salary grid for this role ranges between $62,048.49 at Step 1 and $69,758.53 at Step 5. The initial salary offered for this position is anticipated to fall between Step 1 and Step 2 of the salary grid as posted above as the hiring rate.

Working Conditions





This is a full-time, regular (permanent) position working standard office hours (currently 35 hours/week). This position is based in Toronto, Ontario and may require travel. We are currently operating within a hybrid model, with colleagues working from the office at least 3 days/week and from home up to 2 days/week.



This position is also a desk job with extended periods of sitting, reading, telephone interaction, and working at the computer. This position involves some moderate lifting, shipping, and handling. Attendance at various meetings throughout the workday/workweek will be required; meetings may occur on short notice, depending on the circumstances.



This position is within the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.

As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to maintain and submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
