MacEwan University is seeking a Grants Analyst for a 24-month term opportunity with our Financial Services Department.
You will be part of the financial reporting team and will assist with the processing, monitoring, reporting, and analysis of research grants and other restricted contributions. The primary duties of the Grants Analyst are to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely submission of reporting by providing high quality client service to Researchers, MacEwan's Research Services Office, various other MacEwan departments, and most importantly to the granting agencies.
Key responsibilities include:
Understanding each grant or funding program, while analyzing information; effectively and applying that knowledge to coordinate with the MacEwan University business areas;
Administrate grants by compiling, coordinating, reviewing and preparing accurate financial grant reports;
Prepare account reconciliations including investigation, analysis, and identify required corrections;
Analyze grant related transactions and details, investigate discrepancies and identify problems, and make adjusting entries where necessary;
Communicate with MacEwan University business areas administrating grants on queries and discrepancies and request adjusting entries and/or backup where necessary;
Ensure grants are appropriately recorded including deferred contributions, revenue recognition, transfers to Expended Capital Contributions (ECC), and amortization of Expended Capital Contributions (ECC);
Reconcile grant-related general ledger accounts reported in the financial statements and prepare grant-related working papers; and
Coordinate review of reporting by researchers, research services office, senior financial officer, and submit approved reporting to the granting agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of a bachelor's degree with a major in accounting
A minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite with proven focus on Excel.
Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into workable processes
Reporting experience in government or post-secondary would be an asset
Experience with Microsoft Power Platform is an asset (Power BI, Power Automate).
Experience with Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) would be an asset
Experience with PeopleSoft or similar ERP system would be an asset
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
