Position: Grant Finance Officer

Reports to: Manager, Program Finance

Position Term: Full Time Permanent

We are looking for a finance officer who is passionate about impact in the field, strong at financial accounting, budget management and natural at developing trusted working relationships.

Job Purpose:

This position manages the grant pre-award and post-award financial implementation: preparing budgets, reviewing expenses for compliance, preparing donor reports, for a variety of development or humanitarian grants and contracts.

Responsibilities:

Grants Management

  • Understand donor requirements; prepare/update budget proposals from WVC and field offices; consolidate for diverse stakeholders.
  • Review program budgets and field financial project reports. Report on any relevant problems against donor requirements and generate financial reports to donors.
  • Reconcile project budget information with databases to ensure integrity of data.
  • Provide regular technical support and direction to field finance staff. Help field office deal with difficult issues when required.
  • Analyze spending trends and provide reports, feedback, or analysis to Program Managers and field colleagues as required.
  • Provide budget and finance expertise in the preparation, negotiation and review of agreements/contracts.
  • Participate in annual and long term WVC project budgeting and projection processes.
  • Provide input for the development of the annual team operating budget and monitor actual performance.
  • If needed, undertake periodic project visits for financial data reviews, financial training as part of overall project monitoring as and when required. Travel may include Fragile Context Countries.
Compliance and Training
  • Working cross functionally across divisions and departments to provide financial capacity building trainings to Program & Policy and field office staff.
  • Review internal audit reports received from WV Implementing Office and determine appropriate follow-up action.
  • Provide regular technical support and direction to field finance staff. Help field office deal with difficult issues when required.
Other Finance Initiatives at WVC or WVI
  • Participate in development and maintenance of internal databases and spreadsheets, development/ revision of policies and procedures. (WVI /WVC)
  • Being involved and constantly updated on newly developed financial guidelines introduced by WV Partnership/ WV Canada and Field Partners.
Perform other Duties as Assigned
  • Attend, participate and possibly lead team, cross-sectional group, department and division\'s Bible devotions and attend weekly chapel services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leaders.
Qualifications:
  • University degree in accounting or business field.
  • Minimum 2 years finance related experience (budgeting or accounting).
  • Excellent collaborator and demonstrated experience building effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated organizational, financial, communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, adhere to deadlines and manage competing demands.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
Assets:
  • Good knowledge or understanding of international development work.
  • Accounting designation.
