Job Description

The University of Winnipeg Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) is hiring two (2) student ambassadors. The duties will involve chatting virtually with future students on the Unibuddy platform, referring students to the graduate studies web pages, providing information about UWinnipeg and Winnipeg, and assisting with planning graduate student engagement events. On-the-job training will be provided.


Responsibilities:




Under the direction of the Graduate Studies Recruitment Officer, organize and promote social events for current graduate students. These activities are aimed at strengthening the graduate student community, foster cohort connections and provide networking opportunities Monitor and respond to online chats with prospective students through the Unibuddy app (an example of a pop-up chat can be viewed here) Report to the Graduate Studies Recruitment Officer about chat experience Answer questions from prospective students about UWinnipeg, the student experience, programs, research, funding, living in Winnipeg, etc. Create content such as blogs or social media posts to help students embark on a positive grad school journey Provide guidance to new graduate students Assist with planning of graduate student engagement events Attend and assist with the various FGS events such as Orientation, Student Meet and Greet, Professional Development Workshops, Career Fair, 3MT, etc. Assist with the in-class and digital promotion of the graduate student events Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:




Full-time graduate student enroled in their second (2nd) year, with good academic standing and a good volunteering or co-curricular record who's willing to help incoming students. Both domestic and international students are welcome to apply.

An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.
